Leading a Pure Life by Building God's Fortress

John 11:47-57
The Plot to Kill Jesus
"Why should the whole nation be destroyed? Let this one man die for the people." (50)
This passage is about how the Pharisees see it is time to kill Jesus because he has performed too many miracles and if word got out, Jewish temples and perhaps all Israelites would be destroyed by the Roman empire.

Jesus did die for the people.  He died for us, not just literally and physically, but so that we could have eternal life with God.  What a blessing that is.  Hallelujah!

2 Timothy 2:22-26
An Approved Worker
Based on the commentary, God wants us to live a pure life. This consists of 4 things:
  1. recognizing our potential to sin
  2. avoiding influences that could inspire lust
  3. pursuing faith, love and peace
  4. spending time with other believers whose hearts are pure.
We must guard our minds, our thoughts. By staying close to the Lord, we will build a strong fortress around our life, making it harder for Satan's arrows of temptation to get through. Father, I thank you for this message and I pray that you will build this fortress around me and guard my mind and my heart (and Alice's too) so that I can serve and glorify you.  Let me, through you, be an inspiration to others to seek you.  Let them not see "me", but you.
