John 14:1-14
Jesus the Way to the Father
"You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, because the work of the Son brings glory to the Father. Yes, ask anything in my name and I will do it." (13,14)
Father, this passage was crying out to me. Yesterday I asked for rest and strength because my plate has been overfilled with work. You told me last weekend, my work can be used to honour you. So I do my work proudly and in your name to bring you glory. As such, I couldn't get up yesterday to do my morning devotion and last night, I couldn't find 30 minutes either... a poor excuse when I tell you I love you.
However, in my conversation with my husband, you showed me that you haven't abandoned us, and that you are asking us to just stop... and listen... for you are giving us signs. You are telling us that we just need to ask and you will provide. I have this yearning to have children, desire to be a mom and to raise children. To be honest, I don't really care for being pregnant because I hate being sick and I hate being fat. I have enough trouble losing the weight I have now sheerly from just aging and dealing with my slower metabolism.
I ended up missing my aerobics class because my instructor's father-in-law passed away... which brings me to recall how precious life is. Why am I wasting my time being depressed about things I don't have when I should be cherishing what I do have.
Father, you know what is in my heart and you know what is in my husband's. So Father, I ask in the name of Christ Jesus that I can give birth to at least one child of my own fathered by current husband.
Titus 1:1-16
Titus' Work in Crete
"Everything is pure to those whose hearts are pure" (15)
I think this is why I like working with children! On the flip side, it says that those who are corrupt claim they know God, but deny him just in the way they live...
Father, I pray for a pure heart to radiate your love.
